Pakistan has a Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) rate of almost 18%, exceeding the emergency threshold by less than 10%. To address this, the NGO Fortified Education Foundation (FEF) has embarked on a journey to mindfully feed malnourished people with certified nutritionists on board who design recipes to feed children, according to a press release. .

Affecting Pakistan at an alarming rate, the worst affected lot remains school children between the ages of five and 15. A recent study in the urban slums of Karachi revealed that the frequency of malnutrition in this category was: 38.3 pc (stunting), 28.5 pc (wasting) and 17.5 pc (underweight).
